Nick has been with Ramskill Martin since its incorporation in 2002, and since its first few months of trading has sat on the Board of Directors. As the Managing Director of Ramskill Martin since 2017, Nick has played a pivotal role in the Company’s continued growth and success. We have established a strong Client base with 60% being repeat business. This can largely be attributed to the Companies strong focus on Technical Excellence and distinctive attitude to Working Closer Together with its Clients, as well as a passion for continuing to develop and enhance Ramskill Martin’s Products and Services.
Nick is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying from Liverpool John Moore’s University.
For over 30 years, Nick has been involved in representing Parties in Adjudication (Referring and Responding) ranging in value from £30,000 to over £30 million for a variety of Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor organisations.
Nick has worked for many organisations across multiple sectors. With his wealth of commercial expertise, Nick fully understands how companies within the construction and
engineering sectors operate, what their aims are and the pressures they may encounter, enabling him to provide the best possible approach and strategy for our Clients.
During his time in preparing claims, Nick has become increasingly involved in Planning, Programming and Delay Analysis. Utilising this experience, Nick has published several Articles on Delay Analysis matters and presented a number of seminars for the RICS. When Nick is involved in a Delay Analysis his focus is to ensure that this is cost effective and commercially focussed. As a Quantity Surveyor, Nick believes that Delay Analysis should not become an academic exercise and the aim of the claim should
always be remembered; that being to recover loss and protect against damages. The Time Claim is simply a tool to improve the Client’s financial position (by
recovering loss and securing immunity from damages), nothing more.
Nick has also acted as Expert Witness and Expert Advisor on several Quantum disputes and valuation matters on a wide range of projects including, but not limited to, stonework cladding, structural steelwork, mechanical and electrical services, construction fraud and direct loss and/or expense. His experience includes the giving of evidence in the Technology & Construction Court in London.
With a deep commitment to our Clients, Nick is passionate about always providing an effective and efficient service; maintaining a Client focussed ethos. Nick’s experience in Dispute Resolution has emphasised the importance of avoiding Disputes whenever possible and the value of finding a solution before matters escalate. He is well-known in the industry for his valued proactive no-nonsense approach.
Outside of work, Nick coaches men’s football every Saturday and also, having been involved in martial arts since a young age, he regularly trains and teaches at a local dojo. An avid Liverpool fan, he tries to attend as many games as his time allows. Nick also enjoys spending time with his Partner and walking his two dogs.
